Designing visitor and partner platforms for London's premier design festival
Over three consecutive years, I collaborated with brand partners Koto and Pentagram on London Design Festival's digital presence. The project encompassed both a public-facing website for festival visitors and a dedicated portal for festival partners to manage their participation. Each year brought opportunities to refine and enhance both platforms, with improvements driven by feedback from the festival organization, partners, and visitors. This iterative approach allowed us to continuously optimize the user experience while maintaining alignment with LDF's prestigious brand.
UX
I led a complex UX phase which included site mapping for the programme site and partner portal, journey mapping for distinct user types and detailed wireframing to address the interconnected needs of both systems.
Programme site
We created an adaptable web architecture to support Pentagram's annual brand releases for London Design Festival while maintaining consistency and usability. I collaborated with Koto's UI team to develop a flexible design system that utilises core brand elements (typography, colour, layout) with designated areas for yearly brand updates. Additionally a key consideration was how partner information from the portal would feed into the programme site and accounting for this in the design.
Partner portal
I designed a multifunctional partner portal serving three key purposes: providing exhibitors with tools to input and manage their event information, giving LDF administrators oversight of partner activities and purchases, and creating the centralised database that populates the public programme site.
